What is augmented reality (AR)?
With the use of different APIs for developers, ARCore allows your phone to be used to analyze and detect its environment and understand the world around it. This means that your mobile will analyze the site where you are using its camera and different sensors, will make an internal map of the place, and with this information you will be able to implement augmented reality.
To use Google Play Services for AR, you need an Android device with the following:
- A Google Account
- ARCore Certification
- At least 1 GB of free space
- At least one AR app installed
- An unmeasured mobile network

Google Play Services for AR enables your device to deliver augmented reality experiences in apps built with Google’s AR platform in mind.
¿What devices does Google Play support for AR?
The list includes hundreds of mid- and high-end mobiles from the world’s leading manufacturers, although these devices must be at least a couple of years old. Simply press Control + F in your browser, and in the web search box type the name of your device to see if it is in the list. Google is updating the list with each new mobile that is launched and is compatible with its technology.
Install Google Play Services for AR
- On your Android device, open the Google Play Store Google Play app.
- Find the Google Play Services app for AR.
- Press Download.
